First Impressions

Where are all my sparkle and shimmer fearing gals at? This review is meant for you. When I received these products at first I was skeptical because I have not had a good track record with, well, not so much the shimmery side of things but the SPARKLING side! It just gets EVERYWHERE!

To start off mild, I chose three colors in the Shimmery Powder Eyeshadows collection  - colors that, “without” the shimmer factor, I use almost every day which was comforting. I found that the application method that works best for me is using my ring finger…and it’s FREE! No special eyeshadow brush needed which means more money in the bank! The texture is super fine and has a pearl effect.

If you’re looking for a semi-opaque look you could simply apply this over your bare eyelid. If you’re looking for a more opaque, pigmented look you could use a base first then apply the Shimmery Powder over it. Now remember a base isn’t the same thing as a primer. A base does not stop creasing and oils, but comes in different colors as way to enhance your eyeshadow and make it more vibrant. I like to use a white base when doing this.

Now let’s take things up a sparkle or two… The Sparkling Powder I’m not a huge fan of. It’s just not my style. If I wore it in any sort of way I would use my gel eyeliner and, when applied to my eyeliner brush, take that and dip it into the sparkle, then apply it as an eyeliner. Doing it this way, I didn’t get it all over my face. With this product less is more and if I did more it would be TOO MUCH. I also found that the Sparkling Powder is a great additive to any nail polish. The sparkles aren’t too big but just enough to add a little razzle dazzle to your nails.

Colors Tested and Loved
Shimmery
SP136 Snow white – Great for highlighting under the brow and inner corners of eyes.
SP102 Vanilla – LOVE THIS nude champagne color. Great for highlighting cheeks or under brow.
SP107 Dark Wood – Looks great over brown eyeshadow for that luminous effect.

Sparkling
SP210 Bondi Black – A beautiful black sparkle. Wonderful to use with a gel eyeliner.
SP212 Lion Silver – A silver sparkle fun for disco night or use in a nail polish of your choice.
SP204Gold Road – A gold sparkle which is a beautiful additive to your nail polish.

Quickie

These mineral based Shimmery / Sparkling Powders aren’t as scary as they seem although it’s not an everyday wear for me. It is nice to have on standby especially for those times when you need a little SPARKLE in your life.
