Giovanni Hot Chocolate Sugar Scrub
My obsession with exfoliating runs deep. Like it’s almost surprising I have any skin left for as much as I love to scrub it off. Gross, but true. And I only tell you that so you know I have the experience and authority to make a statement such as this one: the Giovanni Hot Chocolate Scrub is one of the best scrubs I’ve ever had the pleasure of rubbing myself raw with. (Jk. It’s gentle, but firm enough to get the job done!)
My absolute favorite part about this scrub—besides for the fact that it’s natural, and we all know how crunchy I am—is the consistency. It has by far one of the best and easiest consistencies to work with. Most scrubs end up on the floor more than your body, like flushing money down the drain, but the Giovanni scrub has a thick, gel-like texture that stays in your hand, and sticks to your skin.
The ingredients list is nice and natural. Sugar and crushed cocoa beans make up the bulk of it, and wait, let me say that again: crushed cocoa beans…how wonderfully indulgent does that sound?! It also boasts the exclusive Giovanni PureOrganic Technology blend, an advanced essential oil complex to sooth, smooth, and regenerate skin. And let me tell you- it does. This stuff leaves you feeling, say it with me, as smooth as a baby’s bottom. Oh, and it also warms on contact…how?! Idk. It’s magic.
Synthetic chocolate scents aren’t my jam. Even as a young girl who religiously swiped my lips with Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers (one of the fakest food-scented product known to man), I just could never get into chocolate-scented-anything that wasn’t actual edible chocolate. Probably because I’m a real-life chocolate addict. No seriously, I religiously eat 2+ squares of dark chocolate per day. So to me, the scent of this scrub wasn’t something to write home about, but I still have to write here about it, and I honestly can say that out of all of the chocolate-scented products I’ve tried, this honestly was the least offense to my sensitive nose. And every other normal person without an aversion to food-scented beauty products seems to absolutely adore the scent, some women even claiming they want to “eat themselves” after using it. Their words, not mine, though that definitely sounds like something I would say.
All in all, I don’t see how anyone could not love this stuff. And since ’tis the hot chocolate and gift giving season, I think it would make a fantastic Christmas gift.
BUYER’S NOTE: Shop around for this product! I’ve seen it at different stores and websites for prices ranging from $8-14. But FYI, even at the $14 price point, it’s worth it.
RANDOM TIP: Add a few drops of peppermint oil for a mint-chocolate indulgence!
