DIY: Crispy Salted Kale Chips

Let’s all be honest with ourselves. Most of us don’t easily eat 100% healthy 100% of the time.  It’s tough to convince yourself that bread is the devil and kale is king.  And if you are anything like me, you have been scared of kale for a while.  I am all for trying new things but I like my romaine, red leaf lettuce and spinach… do I have to try kale?  Well apparently it is “bursting with nutrients” and “helps prevent cancer and lowers cholesterol”.  When I hear that I just feel bad for giving the green goddess a bad rap.  So I decided to ease my way into kale. All I have to say is I gave my boyfriend (a chip lover) one and he said, “Wow, those are actually REALLY good.” And of course, I agree.  They actually are.  Baking them makes the kale super crispy and some sea salt makes them hard to stop eating.  If you are a kale lover or a potato addict, these crispy salted kale chips will satisfy you and up your nutrition in no time.

First you will have to rinse the kale and dry it completely. Then you will take the leaves off of the stalk and lay them on a baking sheet.

Then toss them with some olive oil and lay them back out on your baking sheet and sprinkle with sea salt.

Then bake for about 10 minutes and voila!


  • 1 bunch of kale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt


Preheat oven to 350 degrees f. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Rinse kale and dry completely (this is very important because water will keep the chips from getting crispy).  Drizzle kale with olive oil and place on prepared pan.  Sprinkle with salt.  Bake for 10-15 minutes for until lightly browned and crispy.  Let cool and enjoy!
