Whether you’re looking for dangerously delicious barbeque, four-star dining or downhome southern comfort, Austin has a culinary array to satisfy every palate.
Out of this insatiable desire for tasty, yet unpretentious food, and born from the original Texas cattlemen’s rolling kitchens known as chuck wagons, the modern food truck has become part of the Austin landscape with an estimated 2,000 four wheeled establishments from which to choose.
For some of the best truck chow in town, we suggest that you mosey on over to The South Austin Trailer Park & Eatery and sidle on up to Torchy’s Tacos for their signature “Damn Good Tacos.”
With multiple locations sprinkled across Texas, and four in and around Austin, The South Austin Trailer Park & Eatery is our fave.
The menu includes 14 different, handmade tacos, all of ‘em delicious.
Of course, like late-night television talks shows during an election year, Torchy’s is fair, balanced and politically correct.
So, if you feel more comfortable ordering up “The Republican,” served on a flour tortilla and featuring jalapeno sausage and a poblano ranch sauce, or “The Independent,” which features fried Portobello mushrooms with ancho aioli, served on a flour tortilla, either one is flat out amazing.
Be sure to leave a little room for dessert – the homemade brownies and deep-fried chocolate chip cookies are crazy good!
