We haven’t even made it to Spring, but we’re giddy with excitement over the 2015 New York Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter runways. This year, our good friend Kimmie from AccessoryAgenda.com was front row, backstage, and everywhere between (not that we’re jealous or anything…), and we asked her to share her insider info with us. She’s already given us the top Fall 2015 fashion trends, and now we’re moving on to another favorite topic…
HBL: Let’s talk beauty! What were some of the standout hair styles and makeup looks?
KIMMIE: The 2015 Fall runway hair reminded me of what was on trend for Spring/Summer 2015- boho chic, goddess of bedhead meets natural, sunkissed waves. It was a major unifier across many shows. Mark and Estel featured this look, which helped give their collection a rocker 70′s inspired feel, where this versatile style helped Leanne Marshall project a playful, whimsy vibe.
Since a girl has to have options, another popular style was the sleek and simple pulled back pony. We saw this on the Erin Fetherston’s runways, as well as an additional Project Runway winner alumni, Dom Streater. The style allows the eye to focus on the subject without distraction from hair, which can cover the frame of the face.
A bold and smoldery eye was dominant throughout the shows, as fall always seems to be the best season for enjoying this trend. A series of palettes tended toward something that was natural for the cheeks and lips, but bold eyelashes were a must in every show.
From a skin standpoint, there is a major movement back to basics with a natural look. It’s a great way to look fresh faced without being overdone!
HBL: Did you pick up any killer backstage tips or tricks?
KIMMIE: The makeup look for Alice + Olivia should be a mandatory beauty uniform for every girl! Known as the Swinging Starlet, it is the updated Cat Eye without the bottom extended cat eye to create a very unique look that is subtle yet bold. It allows you to play up the eye in a new way, and I love how it is paired with a bold lip!
