You use aspirin for a lot of things -hangovers, sore muscles, post-hot yoga class- but did you know your favorite little pain reliever packs a beautifying punch? The effective ingredient in aspirin is chemically similar to salicylic acid, which helps exfoliate skin. So while you may have already heard of a crushed aspirin being used a spot treatment, you can take it one step further for an all-over exfoliation for clearer, brighter skin.
You will need:
4 or 5 uncoated, plain aspirin pills (Advil, Aleve, or Tylenol won’t work)
1-2 Tablespoons of lukewarm water
Honey or plain yogurt (optional)
Directions: Crush and mix the aspirin with just enough water to make a paste. (For a thicker mask, apply a dollop of honey; for a more soothing mask, add yogurt.) Apply a thin layer of the mask over your face, allowing it to dry. Remove with warm water, rinsing away with gentle circular motions.
Enjoy smoother, more radiant skin!
Note: To test for a possible aspirin allergy, first try a test patch on your forearm before spreading all over your face.
