Simple, Fresh Spring Makeup

Spring is a month away and we’re already daydreaming about trading snow for sunlight, winter coats for cardigans, and boots for sandals. It’s also time to overhaul your makeup bag and shed some layers. We asked Siham, beauty blogger and graphic designer behind NoiretteDiary.com, to share one of her favorite looks of the season. Meanwhile, we’ll beckon the warm weather to come. Come soon. PLEASE…

As the year goes by, the weather has started to warm up a little, meaning that Spring is right around the corner. This is the season of new life, where everything feels fresh and light, and so should our makeup. It’s time to say goodbye to those vampy lips we rocked throughout the last two seasons, and brighten our faces with minimal, yet classy makeup.

To start, I use my MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm because it leaves the skin feeling really fresh and moisturized after the past cold months, plus it has SPF 35. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer works great for the under eye areas and in other trouble spots for added coverage. I like to seal this in with a little bit of MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Powder just in case it decides to crease throughout the day.

For me, a fresh face consists of rosy cheeks and lips with a subtle sparkle on the eyes. My favorite blush at the moment is the Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Rose Bronze. It’s my kind of pink with a satin finish that looks very natural on the cheeks and brings light to your face. Keep the same color tone on the eyes by using the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow in Inked In Pink as a base. This helps make my eyeshadow pop and keep it in a pink undertone as I build.

All That Glitters by MAC is a staple to every girl’s collection. Apply it all over the lids and blend it out slightly onto the lower eye area as well. Finish off the eyes with a really good curl to your lashes, then apply Maybelline’s Lash Sensational mascara. Its dark color and volume opens up my eyes, creating a nice contrast against the light tones on my lids.

I had a couple of options for lip colors to finish the look, but chose Fanfare by MAC. This is my favorite your-lips-but-better shade because it looks natural and is easy to reapply throughout the day without needing a mirror to get it right. The formula is Cremesheen, which allows your natural lip color show off a little bit after applying the lipstick and gives a very moisturizing feel.

There are a ton of ways to achieve a natural look. I like to keep it simple by using only a few products. In a collection that is rather small, these ones work the best for me and have become staples to a quick and easy look that gives me a fresh-face ready to welcome Spring.
