Dancing the Dream with Sharna Burgess

Southern California’s spectacular Terranea Resort provided a sparkling backdrop for an intimate visit with fast rising super star, ballroom dancer, choreographer and host, Sharna Burgess.

Beautiful and athletically gifted, the Australian tomboy who found early success in sports and dance parlayed her determination, poise, and natural grace into a primetime gig on ABC Television’s Dancing With The Stars.

A Life on the Dance Floor

Sharna discovered her love for dance before she turned five. While other children played, Sharna trained, honing her skills in ballet, jazz and gymnastics, and began her professional career in ballroom dancing by the age of eight.

At 15, after earning numerous local and national titles in her native Australia, Sharna was chosen to represent her country at the World Championships in both Standard and Latin styles, and performed in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games closing ceremony.

From the U.K. to Broadway

By 18, Sharna moved to London, collected additional titles and trophies. She won rave reviews on tour with the show Simply Ballroom and then went to New York to star on Broadway in Burn The Floor. Next Sharna landed her first television appearances on the Australian Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance, Holland. Today you can catch the auburn-haired beauty on ABC Television’s longtime hit series, Dancing With The Stars. Tune in Mondays 8:00pm/7:00pm Central.
