Essie Spring 2015 Collection
First Impressions
Taking a sharp turn from the vampy colors of Fall/Winter is the Essie Spring 2015 collection, the first Spring collaboration with designer Rebeccah Minkoff. New for 2015, it’s a six shade set piggbacking on the overwhelming floral trend seen on fashion runways. Minkoff is notoriously edgy and modern so I was beyond thrilled when this set of flower mimicking hues landed. Based on the bottle alone they were promising.
As far as color is concerned Essie’s constantly coming out with new shades, so much so that it can be hard to tell a new one from the 20 others sitting on your counter. While these are lovely and modern they feel familiar, which is not necessarily a bad thing. A rich plum color, aptly named Flowerista, is the standout. It’s a gorgeous transition color for those of us craving a Spring-worthy replacement for the crimsons and wines of last season. In most cases a single coat is all that’s needed to land a gorgeous vibrant color. Me likey!
Spring 2015′s formula is the usual creamy, easy to apply consistency that dries with a nice shine and paired with a good top coat it will last several days. I’m thrashing my hands on a keyboard all day and still got a solid 6 days before any major chipping. Garden Party in particular was a little patchy after the first coat, but that was an easy fix. If the brush were wider Essie’s Spring 2015 collection would be perfect and would cut down a three stroke process to one.
