While we aren’t known for our punctuality on workday mornings (Oops. Sorry, boss!), we do make it a priority to have our closets ready for the upcoming seasons. And with the Spring fashion shows having wrapped up, we recruited our friend, celebrity stylist Kimmie Smith from Accessory Agenda for help. The accomplished fashion & accessories expert attended New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015, and is giving us some much loved insider info.
HBL: What are the Top 5 Must-Buys from Spring 2015?
KIMMIE: When it comes to the classics, you can never go wrong with the perfect LBD…with a twist, of course.
A classic jumpsuit in white is the perfect item to wear whether you’re enjoying cocktails on a rooftop, going to a gallery opening, or just heading to dinner.
During the summer when the temperatures rise to unbelievable levels, you want something that is breathable and flows. This feminine ensemble is the perfect item to add to your collection. You can wear it to run errands, then dress it up before heading out for drinks.
Everyone needs a power dress, and that doesn’t mean it must stay within traditional hues For SS15. Shake things up and add a bit of color to your Spring 2015 closet.
When we’re in the in-between weather, having a statement piece for outerwear is a must. Once again, go with the unexpected with a colorful coat. It’s the perfect layering piece.
HBL: Was there a standout designer/moment/style?
KIMMIE: A major standout was a singular look from Dion Lee which featured grommets and zips in a cobalt hue. This is such a highly editorialized look that I could see being worn for a Grammy performance or hitting the red carpets.
One of the most cohesive and lady-like looks with an edge came from the monochromatic look of Christian Siriano. Like a Barbie come to life, this sheath dress hugs the body with darts that flatter, and a gorgeous scalloped neckline.
Porsche Design, which is typically known for their structured pieces, had a range of whimsical, drape-y pieces in neutral tones. This look is stunning…
HBL: Who/what gets your vote for being the “Most Unexpected?”
KIMMIE: I always feel that Naeem Khan is the most unexpected, as he tops himself from season to season. I love seeing looks that hit the runway and knowing which ones will end up on red carpets during Awards Season or the days leading up to the big day. You should definitely keep an eye out for this talented designer.
