New In At-Home Skincare: The Ice Roller

It’s winter, so rubbing something freezing cold all over your face might sound like the last thing you want to do, but we bet you’ll make an exception after reading this…

Aptly named the ice roller, this is not the craziest beauty device we’ve reported on (this guy still takes the cake). Actually, the ice roller isn’t crazy at all, because the concept is super simple, and makes total sense.

The action is all in the detachable, water and gel filled head (typically metal). This is kept in the freezer until ready to use, and as you probably already guessed, using it simply consists of rolling it over your face. Done and done.

So how can something so easy (and cheap) be effective? Well we all know cold temps cause “shrinkage,” right? It’s kind of like that, but less vulgar. The cold causes constriction and the massaging element activates lymphatic drainage, all which reduce the look of fatigue, puffiness, redness, and irritation. It also lessens the appearance of pores, and has a lifting effect on skin.

When should you use an ice roller?
-Daily, for the benefits listed above
-Before and after cosmetic procedures to ease discomfort
-On a sunburn, or any sore areas of the body/skin
-After shaving, waxing, or any other type of torturous hair removal
-After a puff-inducing soy sauce heavy dinner, or one too many glasses of pinot (Am I right?)

Spa professionals use variations of these chilly treatment in their practices, but this device eliminates the need for a pricy procedure or appointment, and can be done immediately at-home when needed.

We know what you’re thinking: ”But Health Beauty Life, can’t I just use an ice cube to achieve these benefits?” Of course you can, dear girl! But if you decide this is something you want to do regularly, this device makes the process much easier- no melting all over your face and clothes, no freezing your fingers off while trying to hold onto a slippery ice cube- just the simple ease of rolling a frozen metal cylinder around your face, watching the puffy-evidence of last night’s sushi dinner melt away.

On sale now, you can buy a $30 at-home roller, or a $50 professional roller. Or if you’re a hardcore Amazon prime junkie, you can always find them there too.
