Signs and symptoms of pregnancy: Most importantly you need to make sure whether that sudden ache is just a pulled ligament or a preterm labor. Ask your doctor to check to you which sign is an emergency call when you are expecting. Some of the common signs and symptoms of pregnancy which are manageable are as follows-

  • Breast changes: Tenderness and enlargement can occur as early as one week after conception. You can also observe rings around your nipples and the veins around your nipples.
  • Nausea and vomiting: It is a common sign of pregnancy but sometimes even weakness and burning stomach can also result in this kind of sensation. But you have to observe very carefully if this particular symptom is occurring one or two weeks after conception.
  • Fatigue: It is common most common in the early weeks but for some it may also continue throughout the pregnancy.

Here’s a series of symptoms that should set off your warning bells during pregnancy.

  • Vaginal Discharge and bleeding: A change in the type of discharge (if it becomes bloody, mucousy or watery) or increase in vaginal discharge it indicates that you will be going to labor soon.
  • Changes in urination: If there is very little or no urination or painful and burning urination during pregnancy calls for urgent medical aid.
  • Facial changes: Any puffiness around your eyes or any swelling in your face or sudden swelling in your feet and ankles, hands, sudden weight gain is also indicators of the same.
  • Dizziness: Palpitation, a rapid heartbeat, frequent dizziness and fainting also indicates help.
  • Gastrointestinal problems: Seek immediate medical care if you are experiencing diarrhea that lasts for more than 24 hours or severe constipation accompanied by abdominal pain.
  • Depression: Do not ignore severe anxiety or depression which may occur during the period of pregnancy. Seek help if it results in complications.
  • Your body is undergoing so rapid changes during the period of pregnancy that it is hard to understand whether it is “normal”. If you feel any symptom is serious then make a call to your doctor.

Healthy Eating during Pregnancy

  • Stay Hydrated: Intake of plenty of water helps in easing constipation, rids you and your baby’s body toxins, waste products, it also helps in reducing swelling, reducing the risk of urinary tract infection.
  • All about vitamins: Eat lots of vitamin A like- potato, carrot, and pumpkin, green leafy vegetables which is helpful for your baby’s development of bones, vision and skin.
  • Eat lot of vitamin B like- pulses, cereals, eggs, milk which will help you to utilize the extra energy that you consume.
  • Eat Vitamin C, D, E and K which is essential for the milestones of the baby’s development.
  • Consult a dietician: You can also take help from a consultant to balance your diet during the time of your pregnancy.
  • Thus maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is quite essential for both the baby’s health as well as yours. Eat a balanced diet that includes all kinds of foods.
