Smart, fit and absolutely glowing, JJ looks as young as women half her years. But, don’t let the pretty persona fool you – she’s a proud member of Mensa and a UCLA graduate who has worked hard to earn her stripes. A self-professed chronic student, JJ has taken over 40 graduate courses from six different graduate and doctoral schools, including Biomechanics from California State University Northridge, Sports Medicine from University of Miami and doctoral level courses in Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and Aging from USC.
For the past decade of her 25 years in the health and fitness industry, JJ has concentrated on holistic nutrition and functional medicine. While conducting food sensitivity tests in doctors’ offices as a graduate student, JJ had a breakthrough. She noted that people who were complaining about common symptoms such as fatigue, bloating, joint pain, moodiness, and inability to focus had certain types of foods that were consistent in their diets. When these foods were eliminated, the symptoms subsided practically overnight, and as a side effect, weight seemed to melt off.

Over time, JJ came to understand that people can have intolerance to some foods, which can be caused by genetics, hormones or the individual’s immune system. By removing certain foods from the diet for a period of about three weeks, it permits the immune system to cool down, hormones to rebalance and cravings to diminish, effectively allowing the body to reset. Foodscan be slowly re-introduced or “re-challenged” as JJ calls it, making lateral swaps to better choices so the symptoms can be kept at bay and weight can be lost and/or managed.
