Pinterest and Instagram both implemented a shopping app, so you knew it was only a matter of time before this happened: last week in a Buzzfeed report, Facebook confirmed the development of an integrated shopping function.
Currently being tested by a small user group, it will allow retailers and e-commerce sites to host a product selection directly on their Facebook page. On a desktop, the shoppable section will appear as a tab alongside the About and Photo Sections. On mobile devices, it will be stacked above the Timeline.
Companies will have the option to allow customers to complete their purchase via an integrated checkout system, or click out of Facebook to the company’s own site to finalize their order.
Social media loving fashionistas rejoice!
