Day In Maui

watch video

Welcome to Maui, the “Magic Isle” – known for its idyllic beaches, lush and vast valleys, and otherworldly beauty. Join Health Beauty Life as we take a first hand look into this stunning slice of paradise. For the duration of our stay, we check in at the beautiful Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa located at the dramatic point on the beach at where the legendary Black Rock of Kā’anapali meets the ocean. We cast off with
Teralani Sailing Charters and enjoy a relaxing trip while taking in amazing coastal views.

Across the island is Kahului, the home base for Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, where we take off on a breathtaking, not to mention once-in-a-lifetime, aerial tour of the island. Since beautiful surroundings seem to increase the appetite, we stop off in Paia to sample some yummy Flatbread pizza and then soar overhead at Piiholo Ranch Zipline excursions in beautiful Upcountry.

As the sun sets on Kā’anapali, we witness the famous Torch Lighting and Cliff Diving Ceremony and then stay for the Maui Nui Lu’au, which comes to life after dark and showcases the music, dance, and history of the islands. From the scenic slopes of fertile Upcountry to the alluring beaches voted among the best in the world, Maui offers a truly unforgettable tropical getaway.

Flatbread Company

If you’re ever on the north side of Maui, stop in at a Paia town favorite, Flatbread Company.

Flatbread Company is one of those joints you just can’t help but fall in love with. Beginning in 1998 in Amesbury, Massachusetts with the mission of providing guests and employees a place to “renew their spirit,” they continued to do so by expanding to nine different locations, all of which are on the east coast except for one, tucked into the heart of Paia town on the island of Maui.

The setting and character of Paia feels perfectly in line with the Flatbread Co. soul and the restaurant fits nicely on a main street filled with shops, dining and island charm. Flatbread creates delicious handcrafted pizzas, served up by a crew of hard working locals who clearly take pride in their work.

Using local farmer’s products whenever possible, their pizzas start with organic ingredients and free-range meats, and are placed in a primitive wood-fired oven where you can watch them bake to perfection. The result is a piping-hot, perfectly proportioned pizza that’s intensely flavored, with crust that melts in your mouth. An integral part of each community served, Flatbread Company offers sustainability support by sourcing through local farmers and producers. Flatbread Company is a place for play for adults and kids, and a tasty stop on your “Day in Maui.” Don’t miss it.

Exhilarating Maui Zipline Excursions
 - Soar Like a Bird

Situated along the flanks of Haleakala, one of the most unique areas on the island of Maui is the region known to locals as Upcountry. Home to Hawai’i’s version of the cowboy, or Paniolo, this lush and picturesque area is also known for its many produce and flower farms. A mile above the town of Makawao, on the lower slopes of Haleakala Crater is Piiholo Ranch. Owned by Peter Baldwin and his three sons, Piiholo Ranch has housed a thriving cattle business and horseback-riding venture for many years. Fifth and sixth generation descendants of Reverend Dwight Baldwin, who came to Maui in the 1830’s as a missionary, the younger Baldwins carved out a corner of the ranch to build an impressive zipline course.

With rolling meadows, deep gulches and a high hill commanding spectacular views, this particular area offers the ideal setting for the world-class adventure. Since opening in 2008, Piiholo Ranch Zipline has quickly become one of the leading zipline adventures in the United

States, and is the premier zipline in Maui. Designed to showcase its beautiful setting, the course crosses intense ravines and tall trees, and offers stunning vistas from mountain to sea. Visitors of all ages can zip side-by-side with family and friends at the longest zipline of its kind in the state of Hawai’i, running over a half-mile long.

The newest adventure, the Canopy Course, opened in 2011 and offers exhilarating zips through the treetops among the forest awning. It provides a close-up view of the island landscape few people have the opportunity to experience. Visitors can enjoy immense eucalyptus forests, native koa and ohia trees, indigenous plants and grand views while having the time of their lives.

Exploring Maui’s Hidden Treasures
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters - Majestic Beauty from the Air

Far beyond the beaches, hotels and places in which visitors can drive, there’s a hidden Maui of cascading waterfalls, soaring valleys, gorgeous tropical vistas, and lush rainforests. It’s impossible to experience the real Maui without seeing it by air.
Now celebrating its 29th year in service to Hawai’i, multi award winning Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company operating on all four major Hawaiian Islands. It was founded on Maui and still calls it home.

Blue’s Maui tours begin and end at its multi-million dollar Hawai’i Operations Center at the Kahului heliport. From the comfort of state-of-the-art, quiet-technology Eco-Star or customized A-Star helicopters, guests explore the hidden Maui that can only experienced from the air: deep, meandering valleys set in the rainforest of the ancient West Maui Mountains; the moon-like crater of Mt. Haleakala; knife-edged ridges with mist-shrouded peaks; spectacular valleys with waterfalls cascading down from towering cliffs into the streams running along the rainforest floor; secluded beaches and unforgettable coastlines.

The most popular points of interest on Maui include Haleakala National Park and Haleakala Crater; Manawainui Falls; Oheo Gulch (Seven Pools); historic Iao; Hana town and the Hana Rainforest Preserve, the largest rainforest in the USA; stunning Keanae Valley, and rugged shoreline of East Maui. Guests learn about the history and culture of the sights from Blue Hawaiian’s expert pilots who not only know the island inside and out, but they are also State of Hawai’I Certified Tour Guides.

Teralani Sailing Adventures

The meaning of the word Teralani is “heaven on earth,” an apt description for our next island adventure. Maui is such a beautiful island, it is a special treat to see it from the deck of a catamaran, sailing just off the coast.

The Teralani Sailing Adventures fleet offers state of the art, custom built 65-foot catamarans that feature comfy indoor or outdoor seating, well stocked bars and digitally supplied music. Known for their snorkel trips, snuba, sunset sails, dinner cruises, seasonal whale watching tours and private charters, Teralani is the premiere catamaran service on the island.

Sail along the golden sea while taking in the views, marvel at humpback whales, swim with sea turtles, and explore Maui’s pristine underwater world of tropical reefs and the exotic fish that inhabit them. Although each boat is large enough to accommodate 100 passengers, the most they host are 49, making the already large boats more spacious and comfortable.

Each boat has two restrooms, fresh water showers, outside and inside seating with tables, and a covered salon and bar.

Imagine sailing off into the sunset, breathing in the sweet Hawaiian air, snacking on award winning catered food, and sipping your favorite cocktail while surrounded by your loved ones…ahh, the good life! This already memorable experience is made even sweeter by a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

There’s a reason the Teralani Sailing Adventures has won Maui’s News Readers’ Poll for Best Water Activity two years in a row, as well as Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence Award; and at risk of overusing the phrase “must see’, you simply cannot leave Maui until you’ve experienced the magic of a Teralani Sailing Adventures.
