5 Ways to Incorporate Pantone Colors Into Your Wardrobe

After a long winter of snow, ice, and countless scarves and gloves, spring is slowly but surely creeping its way in and I couldn’t be more grateful. After piling on layers all season long, it’s finally time to ditch your dull winter wear and embrace the spring color selection brought to you by Pantone.

If you are unfamiliar, Pantone is the color authority for all things beauty, décor, and fashion and gives you the hottest colors to wear in each season. This spring’s colors range from the 2015 color of the year- Marsala, to Scuba blue, to the color of my favorite leather jacket- Strawberry Ice. For some, the bright and pastel colors can be a little scary so if you are wondering how to mix and match these into your current wardrobe, look no further.

Below are five tips to help you incorporate the spring pantone colors in your wardrobe, along with a Pantone color guide.

1. Don’t know where to start? Start with one piece. Whether it’s a coat, a pair of shoes, or a purse; sticking to one piece will give you a nice pop of color and also keep you in style with one small purchase. Once you buy a bright bag or pair of shoes, you can pair it with multiple outfits, even if you’re wearing all dark colors.

2. Pair it with the regulars. Whatever bright colored item you buy, incorporate it with the items you already have, like your favorite jeans and a t-shirt to give you a fresh new look for spring.

3. If you are worried about how to match bright colors, stick with the neutrals. When you wear a bright colored item it becomes the statement piece, so basic colors work well to balance out your look. You can never go wrong matching bright and pastels with black, white, brown, or navy blue.
Sneak them into a print. You don’t always have to go bold, so if you want a subtle look but still want to join in on the trend, get clothing with a print or pattern that has small bits of bright hues mixed in.

4. Brighten up your jewelry. As a jewelry designer, I know the impact one necklace or pair of earrings can have, so if you are looking for an easy way to incorporate these hues into your wardrobe, jewelry is the way to go. Brightening up your jewelry immediately moves you into the spring and summer season, and is proof that you don’t have to invest lots of money to join in on the trend.

Using these tips and this color guide, and you can totally update your wardrobe and be Spring ready in no time.
